As such any layout formed in Bangalore Metropolitan Area has to be approved by BDA.
Whether village panchayats, city municipal councils are competent to approve layouts?
No. Only appointed planning authorities are competent to approve layouts. The village panchayats, city and town municipal councils are not planning authorities. The Bangalore metropolitan area, which falls within the jurisdiction of BDA is a very vast area comprising peripheral area of Bangalore City, including Hobli’s of Kengeri, Begur, K.R. Puram, Varthur, Uttarahalli, Yeshwanthpur, Yelahanka, Hesaraghatta, Thavarekere, Dasanapura, Attibele, jigini, Sarjapura, Jala, Anugondanahalli, Bidarahalli, Hosakote Kasaba. Some specific survey numbers in certain villages of the above mentioned Hobli’s do not fall under Bangalore Metropolitan Area. As stated earlier only BDA can approve the layouts in Bangalore Metropolitan area.
