The broken slabsand uncovered drains have already taken three innocent lives. Few days back uncovered BWSSB manhole claimed the life of an elderly woman.

 

Memories are still fresh, when a car with a family was sucked into uncovered drain last year. Walking on pavements after a heavy downpour has become risky. The uncovered drains, broken slabs are seen everywhere and not as isolated cases. Will not the corporation staff inspect the pavements, clear and clean the drains periodically?

 

May be records of the corporation office show that works are completed and bills paid. But citizens continue to pay with their lives for the negligence of somnolent, indolent and lethargic, civic body and staff. 

 

What is the use of any achievements, progress in science, technology, if such preliminary things are ignored? What purpose is served in launching satellites when one does not know how to cover the drains?

 

It is high time that State Government and City Civic body address to these basic needs instead of trumpeting the global positioning of Bangalore, otherwise the International community may turn its back to Bangalore.
